In some ways, qualitative study is the polar reverse of statistical research. Numerical research strives to collect quantitatively represented actual data, whereas subjective research investigates the concepts individuals use to arrange data. So, suppose a quantitative analyst comes across a field of blue flowers. In that case, they may count the blooms, characterize the distribution of plant height, or compare pollinator action on flowers based on a range of quantitatively specified characteristics.

A qualitative research scientist, on the other side, might give a detailed summary of the incident, including its exterior looks, an assessment of human use of the field throughout history, native occupants' expectations of the flowers, and an investigation into the field's and its plants' societal and psychological significance about other areas of territory.
