Definition and explanation: Key points of poverty and unemployment and why it is a social problem: Poverty and unemployment stems from a number of factors
Poverty and unemployment stems from a number of factors. One of them is unequal distribution of public resources, such that the rich people take larger portions leaving the poor people impoverished. Additionally, poverty stems from low education attainment. Unlearned people do not fit into the job positions that would earn them income to improve their living standards. Natural pandemics such as floods and Covid-19 also contribute to poverty because many people lose jobs while others lose their properties. Poor governance, especially corruption leads to poverty and unemployment. Corrupt leaders embezzle public funds which would be invested in industrial sectors to create employment opportunities.
