Natural pandemics such as floods and Covid-19 also contribute to poverty because many people lose jobs while others lose their properties. Poor governance, especially corruption leads to poverty and unemployment. Corrupt leaders embezzle public funds which would be invested in industrial sectors to create employment opportunities.
