After more than a year of living with the COVID-19 pandemic, I realize that one of the biggest challenges was grappling with isolation and finding enough mental and physical space. However, some of the more evident negative effects have been on the environment, such as increasing solid waste. The quarantine, social distancing, and isolation have led to a relevant increase in domestic solid waste generated. On the positive side, the pandemic has reduced atmospheric emissions and air pollution resulting from the shutdown of trade, industries, transportation, and factories. There has also been a decrease in water pollution from many industrial sources of pollution.
