A medical clinic in Oshikuku, a remote area in Namibia, is threatened with closure owing to a lack of funds and shortage of staff. It is the only medical care in the region and its closure would have terrible consequences for the community in the area. There are no printed or electronic media in the region, very limited electricity which is provided by portable generators and a very poor road infrastructure. Literacy levels are very low amongst the local community. You have been asked as a graduate in Public Relations to prepare a PR campaign to try and prevent the closure of the clinic. The goals should be specific measurable, achievable, and realistic. this campaign has the goal of securing the lives of the people of Namibia which can be in danger if the hospital is closed. Again the campaign has the aim of convincing the authority not to close the clinic.

A PR campaign should have a specific target customer. Our main target audience is the government authority who wants to close the clinic. the campaign can be done through social media and also peaceful demonstrations can assist to make the authority aware of the needs of people.
Research opportunities
This involves searching for a platform for the campaign. For instance in the case of the clinic. Using seminars and workshops, press releases, interviews, and letters to the editor can help to create awareness.
Create a schedule
This comes immediately you have connections with your customers. One plans a schedule for the campaign. In our case, this can be done by a doing follow-up to know whether the information reached the government authority.
Measure your progress
Lastly, plans should be put in place to help measure your progress. This can be done by checking the attendance of people during workshops and feedback from media services. Therefore by getting a reaction from the authority shows that they are aware now the people don't support the closure of the hospital.
