While you are chatting with your friend at an expensive restaurant, she suddenly stops in mid-
swallow and looks panicked. When you ask what is wrong, she indicates that she can’t speak
and runs toward the restroom. What should you do? Assume that your first aid does not
work—what procedure might emergency medical personnel use to help your friend?
Chocking. You should conduct an abdominal push if the person is choking. Standing behind the choked person, make a fist with one hand and cover the fist with the other hand while gripping the person's upper abdomen in your arms. Place your fist between your ribs and begin pushing it inwards and upwards. This will aid in the removal of food particles from the affected person's windpipe.
If this method fails, emergency medical staff should do a bronchoscopy, which will allow them to see the foreign item lodged in the respiratory tract and remove it using tools attached to the bronchoscope.
