How would you explain the role of classical and operant conditioning theories of learning in the business world
Both classical conditioning and operant conditioning are learning processes. Classical conditioning involves pairing two stimuli, whereas operant conditioning involves the pairing of behavior and response. In classical conditioning, learning happens before the reaction, but learning occurs after the response in operant conditioning.
The marketer seeks to induce customers to link their product with a specific sensation or response to expect the consumer to buy the product. Another example of classical conditioning is shown in advertisements when individuals have a nice time utilizing a product.
Advertisers use operant conditioning to try to influence consumers' behavior by rewarding or punishing them, for example, by refunding customers' money after they purchase a certain product.
