Many determinants of well-being have been linked to prosocial conduct, or the ability for individuals to actively act in a positive, accepting, helpful, and cooperative manner. Positive social interaction skills, a constructive self-concept, optimistic peer relationships, peer acceptability, a lower risk of externalizing behaviors, and lower levels of problem behavior have all been linked to prosocial conduct. By establishing explicit standards and expectations for behavior, prosocial behavior can be encouraged. These rules must be grounded on developmental concepts because they influence behavior's consequences. It's critical to explain why social rules exist, as well as the "cause and effect" of children's decisions and behaviors. Say it with sincerity. Any expression of a rule or expectation should be accompanied by the appropriate emotional level. Because the effect indicates it matters, the nonverbal part of delivery is critical to the entire message. In our tone and expression, individuals should perceive our approval of prosocial action. When correcting or redirecting unacceptable behavior, we should also be forceful and direct. Avoid programs and content that encourage or promote violent or antisocial conduct. Content that is age-appropriate and developed within standard classification rules, regardless of medium, provides consumers with more developmentally appropriate options. With screens everywhere, choose programs that promote prosocial themes like friendship, exploration, problem-solving, and cooperation.
