Recruitment law is an act that prevents or covers employees from discrimination or mistreatment by employers. Every human resource department should know and apply these laws when recruiting employees. This ensures fairness and justice is done for every employee. There are several recruitment laws.
The first law is equal pay. This law advocates for equal payment of employees. In some cases where people discrimination occurs you find that a gender pay gap still exists (Taki et Al 2017). The equal pay act seeks to eliminate gender discrimination in workplaces. It ensures that all those employees who perform similar tasks are paid the same salary.
The second law is Age Discrimination in Employment Act. It protects the discrimination against employees based on their age. It is a right for the employer to ask the age of the employee during recruitment but this should not be used to intimidate the employee. Employers should ensure that employees are treated equally despite their age.
The third law is the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) which protects employees with disabilities (Geng et Al 2018). Employers should give equal opportunities to both employees with disabilities or not. They should ask the employee whether he or she is capable to perform the duty with the disability and avoid discriminating against them.
The fourth law is the immigration Reform and Control Act. This prevents racism in workplaces. This act requires employees to complete an employment eligibility verification form. Employees violate this law when they recruit people depending on their skin color, culture, and language.
The last law is the pregnancy Discrimination Act which prevents discrimination which is based on pregnancy Farbenblum 2017). Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or with related medical conditions should be treated as the other employees.
All these laws that no employees are mistreated at the workplace. Again, employers make it a habit to respect the employees.
