The job requirement of any particular task is done through an in-depth job analysis process. Job analysis allows the human resource manager to identify all the pertinent information about a specific job. Determination of the requirements of an administrative clerk is done through the following steps:

a)     Information collection – the departmental human resource manager collects relevant information about a given task through the determination of objectives of the job analysis process. Such information is collected through various methods such as interviews, questionnaires and applied in analyzing the roles and responsibilities of the task.

b)     Review of collected and background information aims at the designation of the organization chart, current position specification, procedures, and process. It helps in a detailed assessment of the requirements.

c)     Listing of the requirements for the selection process – after data collection and review of the collected information, the human resource department comes up with a list of expected qualifications in terms of knowledge, skills and talents against which prospective applicants are recruited.

d)    Evaluation and review of the requirements – the human resource department cross-checks the identified tasks according to the organization's overall objectives. The tasks should support the general organization goal.

The human resource department is also responsible for selection recruiting, and performance appraisal, among other duties. The selection process is undertaken to identify the best qualifications from prospective employees and hire them (Ahmed, 2002). On the other hand, recruiting is how an organization identifies, attracts, interviews selects, and hires new, most needed skills in the organization. Performance evaluation is the process of checking and ensuring that the human resource of an organization is discharging the expected duties for the benefit of the organization.
