Answer to Question #260070 in Physics for haze

Question #260070

A rock on the ground is moved either vertically or horizontally. First it is accelerated horizontally from rest to a speed of 10 m/s. After it is stop to rest it is lifted vertically very slowly almost at rest at any moment to the height of 4 m above the initial height without acceleration. Calculate the total energy increase the rock gains after the two motions in J. g = 9.8 m/s2. (Hint: First calculate what the potential energy increase the rock acquires by the second motion is, and then what the kinetic energy increase the rock gains is by the first motion in J? (g = 9.8 m/s2)
