Question #92185

I have a small electric oven. It has three slots: upper, medium, lower with heating elements above and below. If I place the grill in the upper slot to toast some bread slices, they will get more heat if I put the crumb-gathering metallic deck in the lower slot (close to the heating element) or in the middle slot (close to the grill with the bread slices)??? Thanks!

Expert's answer

Convection mechanism is used in electric oven. The heated air gives off heat to the food. It is known that heated air is lighter than cold air. Inside the oven, the heated air occupies the upper part, and the cold one descends below, where, in turn, it warms up.
