Can palm oil be used as a thermometer substance? If yes explain why and if no explain why

No oil can not be used. Reasons.

It's not used in thermometers because it does not have high coefficient of expansion. Hence, the slightest change in temperature is not notable when it's used in a thermometer. It doesn't have a high boiling point which makes it very unsuitable to measure higher temperatures

Note: Mercury is the only one in liquid state at room temperature
