Why is it easier to walk on a concrete surface rather than on an ice surface even though friction is more on the concrete surface? Does this question make sense/is this relevant?

It is easier to walk on concrete because friction between feet and the surface keeps feet in place and prevents a human from falling. The question makes sense to bring one's attention to the fact that friction is not always unwanted, but is often useful.
