Question #128712

Explain the term RESTITUTION as related to impact

Expert's answer

The term “restitution” is a measure of the degree of bounce of the object. Restitution is the ratio of the rebound velocity to the impact velocity. An object with a restitution of 1 would rebound with the same velocity that it would have had on impact. An object with a restitution of 0 would not have any rebound velocity whatsoever after having struck an object.
