The average time value of the power in the AC circuit is of practical importence $P=\frac{RI_{peac}^2}{2}$

The same power is provided by the DC current $I_{RMS}=\frac{I_{peac}}{\sqrt2}$

If $I_{RMS}=230V$ then $I_{peac}=I_{RMS}\sqrt2\approx324V$
