Answer to Question #117437 in Electric Circuits for Amanda Minutolo

Question #117437
I have a parallel circuit attached to a simple circuit. The resistors in the parallel circuit are 20 ohms and then 2 resistors next to each other which are 20 & 40 ohms with .1A next to it. There is a 15 ohm resistor in the simple circuit attached to it. The Volt is unknown. Calculate the total current I and the total voltage V.

"V_1=(20+40)\\cdot0.1=6V"

"V_1=V_2=6V" , "I_2=6\/20=0.3A"

So, we have

"I_{total}=I_1+I_2=0.3+0.1=0.4A" Answer.

"R_{total}=15+\\frac{20(20+40)}{20+20+40}=15+15=30\\Omega"

"V_{total}=30\\cdot 0.4=12V"
