Question #117437
I have a parallel circuit attached to a simple circuit. The resistors in the parallel circuit are 20 ohms and then 2 resistors next to each other which are 20 & 40 ohms with .1A next to it. There is a 15 ohm resistor in the simple circuit attached to it. The Volt is unknown. Calculate the total current I and the total voltage V.

V1=(20+40)0.1=6VV_1=(20+40)\cdot0.1=6V

V1=V2=6VV_1=V_2=6V , I2=6/20=0.3AI_2=6/20=0.3A

So, we have

Itotal=I1+I2=0.3+0.1=0.4AI_{total}=I_1+I_2=0.3+0.1=0.4A Answer.

Rtotal=15+20(20+40)20+20+40=15+15=30ΩR_{total}=15+\frac{20(20+40)}{20+20+40}=15+15=30\Omega

Vtotal=300.4=12VV_{total}=30\cdot 0.4=12V
