Answer to Question #284106 in Classical Mechanics for OMAR

Question #284106

Suppose a giant cargo ship of 10 m in length is carrying heavy boxes, some of them of solid marble. At the end of the ship is a 2m inclined plane tilted 15° above the horizontal to help the electric winch pull the 1.5 ton (t) marble heavy box. The winch gains a power of 1.5kW when the box is pulled at a constant speed up the inclined plane, bearing in mind that the kinetic friction coefficient between the marble box and the plane is 0.50.

And when carrying the box, the rope broke and the box fell next to the ship and to the bottom of the sea at a distance of 0.2Mpa (2atm). Suppose the winch was 5m above sea level at the time the rope was cut. a) Find the horizontal distance of the box from the winch b) What is the ratio of this horizontal distance to the length of the carrying vessel?
