As we see, an AC source is connected to the rectifier. One pair of diodes lets though the upper wave ("right" current) of the sinusoidal input signal blocking the lower one ("left" current), while the other pair of diodes lets though the lower one ("left") in the opposite direction so that each half-cycle there is a "right" wave. A smoothing capacitor can be added din parallel to decrease the magnitude of the peaks in the output rectified signal.
