Force is the name given to a quantity of vector nature that is capable of producing two effects when applied.

A dynamic effect by producing motion or a deforming effect by changing the initial shape of the bodies to which it is applied.

As force is a vector quantity it has magnitude and direction, in the international system of units the unit used is the Newton (N).
