A tokamak is a type of a nuclear fusion reactor. It consists of a toroidal chamber with a strong magnetic field inside. The field is necessary to isolate plasma where the nuclear fusion is happening from the walls of the chamber. The shape of the tokamak is toroidal because a magnetic field of other configurations cannot steadily hold plasma.
The introduction of tokamaks in the future will provide the planet with efficient, waste-free energy.
