Reflect on the concepts of trigonometry. What concepts (only the names) did you need to accommodate the concepts of trigonometry in your mind? What are the simplest trigonometry concepts you can imagine? In your day to day, is there any occurring fact that can be interpreted as periodic patterns? What strategy are you using to get the graphs of trigonometric functions?
The three basic functions in trigonometry are sine, cosine and tangent. Based on these three functions the other three functions that are cotangent, secant and cosecant are derived. Periodic patterns can be seen in music, since sound waves travel in waves, in patterns that are similar to sine and cosine functions. There are two ways to prepare for graphing the basic sine and cosine functions in the form y = sin x and y = cos x: evaluating the function and using the unit circle. , and 2π for x and calculating the corresponding y value. To use the unit circle, the x-coordinates remain the same.
