  2. We know that the correlation coefficients whose magnitude are between 0.5 and 0.7 indicate variables which can be considered moderately correlated.

Given correlation coefficient is 0.53, which shows that fatigue is an important factor in producing irritability. Thus, author is correct. So, the conclusion is justified.
