A chance is a synonym of the word probability, it's reasonable that something will happen. If you have a sporting chance of doing something, it is quite likely that you will do that thing. Sporting chance or probability is a number between 0 and 1, where, roughly speaking, 0 indicates impossibility and 1 indicates certainty.
