It is the teacher's task to introduce concepts of measurement in a practical way to Intermediate Phase learners. Use the attribute of volume and give three practical examples of how the teacher can introduce this concept.Â
Teachers should introduce the concept of volume to the intermediate phase learners through the following steps.
Step 1:Â Teachers should give students a concrete example with manipulative to understand the concept of volume. For example, a teacher can tell the learners to prepare cubes with eight cubes on the length, three cubes on the width, and one cube in the height.
Step 2:Â They should also help them discover the relationship between surface area and volume when introducing the formula. In this step, the teacher should help learners use the formula for surface area for cubes and relate to the volume of cubes. The formula will be "Length \\times width \\times height."
Step 3:Â Since the students have understood, they should give them real problems to solve.
The teacher should help students solve the cubes' volume and then let the students practice solving different problems. In this case, the volume should be 24.
