A bakery is 10 meters wide and 16 meters long. The baker wants to put a wooden shelf around the inside of the bakery. The wooden shelving costs $24.00 per meter. How much will the baker's shelf cost?
The perimeter is the sum of all the sides of an object.
If the bakery is a rectangle, the equation for determining the perimeter of a rectangle is:
P=(2 x length) + (2 x width). Therefore, if the bakery is a rectangle its perimeter would be:P=(2 x 16) + (2 x 10)=$52
The length and the width are multiplied by 2 because a rectangle has a total of 4 sides. The above equation can be written like this as well: P= length + width + length + width
The wooden shelving cost $24 per meter, the baker's self costs will be $24x = $52
x= 52/24
$2.167, therefore the costs of Baker's self is $2.167ans
