Draw a funnel on a whiteboard showing 10,000 visitors, 500 leads, 50 opportunities, and 10 new customers (or any other numbers you think are interesting). If you were the company's CMO, you have to decide what your marketing team should do to improve these metrics.
As CMO, it is my responsibility to develop and oversee marketing strategies in an organization. I would instruct the marketing team to do market research to identify and learn about customer interest to determine marketing techniques. I will also consider coaching the team to develop 2 to 4 metrics to guide marketing efforts. The team should also prioritize content development to improve marketing metrics.
