Diversity training is a program whose initiative is to create positive intergroup interaction through making the workforce aware of their diversity. The training aims at reducing discrimination and facilitating positive interactions within a team. Barriers such as the lack of role models in the organization affect diversity training since the workers do not see diversity in practice. Cultural expectation hinders diversity training as the society dictates how people of a particular gender or social class need to perform their duties. Moreover, resistance to change among the workforce is a barrier as it may not allow inclusiveness in the organization. Also, informal mentoring in the workplace that is conducted with stereotypes or people with prejudice affects diversity training.
