The evolution of the supply chain concepts comprises of three phases inclusive of;

1^st phase: Physical Distribution Management- The firms in that era of the 1960s focused on mass manufacture to cut down production costs. The management used to ease the movement of the mass-produced goods to the warehouse and distribution centers.

2^nd Phase: Integrated Logistics Management- In this phase, procurement is united with physical distribution management. Electronic data exchange also is eased on the logistic process.

3^rd Phase: Supply Chain Management-Supply chain management of the related business to enable the production and assembly of the final product.
