Peer-to-peer Leadership is a Better Option to Manage Millennials

One of the millennials' biggest motivators is consistent and meaningful recognition. Recognition encourages millennials to become high-performance contributors. Peer-to-peer leadership manages millennials best because it satisfies millennials' cravings for recognition.

Peer-to-peer leadership would be a better option to manage millennials, for instance, at a workplace because such leadership improves employee emotional health (Gilchrist & Alison, 2019). Today, millennials are one of the largest generational groups and workforce. Therefore, motivating, engaging, and retaining millennial employees is a priority for any organizational success. Ultimately, success depends on an organization's employee engagement levels of whose central driver is recognition offered through peer-to-peer leadership (Gilchrist & Alison, 2019). Undeniably, for companies, consistent recognition of the role millennial employees play can boost the organizations' innovative and collaborative approach when engaging with the teams and managers. Furthermore, millennials would most of the time want to believe in employers and contribute to organizational success. Therefore, if the employer fulfills the belief and motivates the millennials when and where it matters the most with a values-linked peer-to-peer recognition program, managing the millennials would be much easy. By improving employee emotional health, peer-to-peer leadership serves as a better option to manage millennials.

Moreover, peer-to-peer leadership builds a positive unified workplace culture among employees, including millennials making it easy to manage the group. Peer-to-peer recognition assists companies create a great workplace culture by ensuring effective communication since communication is a primary human need (Gilchrist & Alison, 2019). Consequently, effective communication fosters a strong alignment with an organization's vision, mission, and values. Promoting a significant workplace culture such as effective communication is very much effective in managing employees of which millennials are included. Therefore, since peer-to-peer leadership supports effective communication, which fosters management at workplaces, it consequently qualifies as a better option to manage millennials.
