An organization's culture can be described as a collection of basic assumptions, values, attitudes, and behavioral norms shared by its members and conveyed in their views, thoughts, feelings, and actions, as well as material and nonmaterial objects.

The GLOBE study examined a variety of theoretical propositions and research questions by identifying nine cultural. 78 survey questions were used to cover the nine GLOBE lengths, with half of them asking respondents to explain their culture and the other half asking them to rate it. The nine GLOBE cultural dimensions are:

·      Uncertainty Avoidance: This directs managers about how often a community, company, or group depend on social standards, laws, and procedures to mitigate the unpredictability of future events.

·      Future-oriented: How often an organization promotes and rewards future-oriented activities like preparation and deferring gratification.

·      Power Distance: The expectation that power will be distributed equally among members of the organization.

·      Collectivism I (Institutional): The extent to which organizational and social institutional practices promote and reward mutual resource distribution and action.

·      Humane Orientation: How much an organization supports and rewards individuals who are honest, altruistic, compassionate, loving, and kind to others.

·      Performance Orientation: The extent to which an organization supports and rewards participants for improving their performance.

·      Collectivism II (In-Group): The degree to which individuals in their organizations show pride, commitment, and cohesiveness.

·      Gender Egalitarianism: refers to an organization's efforts to reduce gender inequality.

·      Assertiveness: the degree to which employees in the organization are proactive, belligerent, and aggressive in their interpersonal interactions.

GLOBE is the most detailed study to date that has empirically studied the relationship between culture and leader activity in a variety of cultures and organizations, using a variety of quantitative and qualitative indicators and methods.
