Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon, understands the importance of goals and plans. As a leader, he excudes energy, enthusiasm, and drive. He's fun loving ( his legendary laugh has been described as a flock of Canadian geese on nitrous oxide) but has pursued his vision for Amazon with serious intensity and has demonstrated an ability to inspire his employees through the ups and downs of a rapidly growing company. When Bezos founded the company as an online bookstore, his goal was to be the leader in online retailing. Now 20 years later, Amazon has become the world's general store, selling not only books, CDs,and DVDs, but millions of products you can buy. What can you learn from this leader making a difference?
He is a charimatic leader
Charismatic leadership is a form of leadership in which highly self-assured leaders rely on their powerful personalities and charisma to inspire uncommon devotion to themselves. A charismatic and self-assured leader whose presence has an effect on others.
They have a vision, the capacity to express that vision, a willingness to take risks to achieve that vision, sensitivity to both environmental constraints and follower needs, and out-of-the-ordinary behaviors, according to the most detailed study.
While inspirational leadership is often associated with vision, visionary leadership is distinct; it is the ability to build and express a plausible, compelling, and appealing vision of the future that improves on the current situation. If properly chosen and executed, this vision is so energizing that it "in essence jump-starts the future by calling out the skills, abilities, and resources available."
