how can families cope with domestic violence
Management of Domestic Violence
Domestic violence involves the use of threats, [physical violence, and harassment. Emotional abuse, etc. among spouses or intimate partners (Bahadir-Yilmaz & Öz, 2018). Domestic violence may not be completely avoided in many instances, hence should be managed effectively to ensure that it doesn’t lead to problems like physical injuries, etc. The first way of effectively coping with domestic violence is through talking to family members or friends about the domestic violence that one experiences to find a solution to it (Callaghan & Alexander, 2017). Secondly, the development of a safety plan is another way of coping with domestic violence. For instance, one should plan a faster and a rapid way of leaving the place in the event of domestic violence. This plan can be made possible by knowing where keys are kept and arranging extra sets of clothes that one can leave with quickly during times of family violence (Bahadir-Yilmaz & Öz, 2018). Thirdly, avoiding arguments in places that could lead to injury in the event of violence like kitchen, washroom, etc.
