Impacts of climate change

Climate change presents a serious threat among them are several intractable issues. Climate change, which includes sea level rise, severe events such as heat waves, heavy precipitation, flooding, and storm surges, causes a slew of problems, including global warming, energy use issues, emissions, and the ribbing of natural resources, eventually leading to rise of the sea level that affects coastal cities (Walsh et al., 2011, p.78). Furthermore, climate change has detrimental effects on both urban and rural residents' health, resulting in physical illness as a result of cold and heat-related morbidity and mortality, vector-borne diseases, and water and foodborne diseases. They can also have an effect on city finances and water supply (Hunt and Watkiss, 2011, p.28). Both of these factors have a direct effect on both the economy and the environment.

Pollution may also be a result of climate change. Global warming, or the warming of the earth system, is primarily caused by deforestation and inadequate energy management, which result in numerous emissions of dangerous gases.

Climate change has also resulted in a major shift in energy demand in both urban and rural areas. This is due to the fact that the phenomenon induces temperature fluctuations, which raises the demand for energy. Because of the low temperatures in the winter and the high heat extremes in the summer, the amount of energy required for air conditioning in the summer increases, while the amount of energy required for heating in the winter increases. As a result, huge capital costs are incurred to meet the rising demand for energy. Furthermore, urbanization and industrialization result in the release of numerous chemicals into the atmosphere, which have negative consequences influencing climate change (Vidal, 2013). For example, in cities, factories and motor vehicles emit harmful substances, such as CO2, which contribute to climate change. The resulting climate change has an effect on the entire country and its cities.
