Self-management skills are the abilities that allow people to control their thoughts, feelings, and actions. If you have strong self-management skills, you're able to set goals independently and take the initiative to achieve them. Examples of self-management skills include reliability, stress management, time management, trustworthiness, adaptability, and conscientiousness among others. It involves a process to improve them and the following steps are followed; firstly, take care of yourself such that you prioritize your own wellbeing, you can be more in control of the way you act. This means eating healthy, getting enough sleep, and regularly exercising. Secondly, Practice being patient then thirdly, focus your attention on one task so that you become more organized and on top of your work, try to focus all of your attention on one task at a time. Fourthly, reflect on your strengths by understanding what you're good at and making an effort to become an expert in these areas, you can be in more control of your career trajectory. After reflecting on your strengths, set goals and plan for each workday. Lastly, come to any career meeting prepared and think before you speak.
