To examine the effectiveness of a print advertisement in a local newspaper for a departmental store a sample of respondents was selected at random. The sample was randomly split into two groups each having same number of respondents. They were first interviewed regarding their attitude towards the store. Members of only one group were then exposed to the print ad in the newspaper the two groups were again interviewed to obtain their attitude towards the departmental store.
Identify the design used. Show diagram of experiment. State the dependent variable, treatment variable and extraneous variables that would affect internal validity of the above experiment.
The design used in this particular interview is known as structured interview, where a particular set of question that is predetermined is ask by the interviewer, this kind of question are made and planned in advance meaning that all respondents experience the same kind of question in similar manner.
Dependent variable in this interview will be the response given by two group sample regarding their attitude towards the print advertisement of the local newspaper.
Treatment variable is also known as independent variable meaning that in our case we have respondent as our treatment variable as the final verdict depends on their response.
Extraneous variable are things related with environment that may directly affect how independent variable respond to the questions, some of this variables can be controlled to enhance quality interview some good example of this variable includes chilly weather, too much temperature in the room
