Hostilities between the French and British increase during the mid-1700s since the French tried to strengthen their domination by building forts in the North America territory and this infuriated the British who retaliated by sending in their forces. In an attempt to expel the French people from the territory, the British people were defeated and when the news reached the British prime minister, he called for an immediate strike which was then made public and this alerted the French government, and therefore turning the wrangles into a full-scale war.
Conclusively, both superpowers wanted control over the region since it was of more benefit to whoever was to control the river as it was strategically situated at the heart of the continent. Maximum control over North America would mean controlling other regional borders including Canada and the Mississippi River.
