During the period of the cold, Canada was in a continuous state of change and transformation, these changes were evident in the increased force of secularism, consumerism, state activism, and cultural changes. Thus the soviet union donated its first atomic bomb and launched the age of superpower in 1948 leading to changes in Canadian defense force strategies in the cold war. Furthermore, Canadians strongly aligned with the United States as they prepare for a missile assault across the Arctic.
