What is George Washington’s response to multiple requests that he attend the Constitutional Convention, and how does this change?
In presiding over the Constitutional Convention, he attempted to establish agreement, requiring full secrecy as the participants started about the contentious job of not merely rewriting the Articles of Confederation, but eliminating them altogether. In 1787, George Washington was convinced to join the Constitutional Convention and later was overwhelmingly chosen its president.
