The Carnation Revolution was a military coup that overthrew the authoritarian Estado Novo changes through the Precesso Revolucionario Em Curso bringing a transition to democracy and end of Portuguese colonial war. The rallies involved were; Armed Forces Movemnent and Estado Novo and the lead figures were; Otelo Saraiva de Carvalho, Salgueiro Maia, Americo Tomas and Marcello Caetano. The revolution resulted into the end of the Portuguese Colonial War and the independence of Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, and Sao Tome and Principe.
