African colonization was primarily motivated by economic, political, and religious factors. During this period of colonization, Europe was experiencing an economic crisis, with major countries like as Germany, France, and the United Kingdom losing money. The Scramble for Africa arose as a result of the end of the slave trade, when businessmen perceived Africa as a continent they could now exploit legally. Capitalists throughout Europe discovered new methods to profit from the continent. Even more lucrative resources were discovered when the land was explored further.
