A loss of a job causes frustrations in many relationships. These frustrations are mental and emotional and emanate from the pressure of dislocation, seeking another job, and financial burden due to loss of income. The role of the woman is to motivate and encourage her husband to remain positive. Both the husband and the wife should sit down and strategize on their next move. The couples have to cut down on their expenditure by avoiding unnecessary spending. The first option will be moving out to a cheap and affordable rental apartment as the husband files for unemployment benefits. The husband should also claim his severance pay and continued health benefits from the employers as mandated by federal laws upon large layoffs. The husband may also consult the Human Resource department to check the nature of the benefits he is entitled to.
Unemployment causes tension and uncertainty in relationships therefore, it is the couples’ duty to ensure that they remain positive in their strategies. The wife should encourage the husband to update his resume and network with other companies for alternative employment. He can also engage in related assignments and part-time assignments that will help improve his abilities. The company employers may also recommend or offer career transition programs for their employees to ease their job-seeking experiences.
