The water cell was written as a narrative of Irans political past. The story starts with a scene of ironic humor Maryjane’s parents had spent the day in the street supporting the Marxist revolutionary forces. When they get home their child Marjane wants to play the monopoly. The game symbolizes the western children indoctrination to western capitalist values. It is contrasting and the same time humorous situation. However, as Marjane grows and develops sense, he comes to a nascent of understanding through her parent’s stories why symbols of capitalism such as the monopoly game are looked down in their home.
