The locomotion of infants is activated when they are on their abdomens. During this motion, some infants use their hands and a foot to propel them forward as they slither on their stomachs. Some will push themselves around their stomachs, crawling with on one leg and then dragging the other. Other babies will alternate their right limb and the left leg, then the left arm and the right leg or use both sides of the body equally when their stomachs are on the floor. Crawling can also be seen when an infant pushes their hands and knees up with their bellies off the floor.
