Do gender, status difference and age affect how you use the different forms of address, greetings, and/or gestures?
Greeting behavior can vary because of nation, region, venue, age, gender and medium. Greeting behavior can reflect participants' relations and perceptions of their interlocutor. Greeting behavior can show affiliation and disaffiliation between interlocutors. Some greeting forms have the potential to index certain social meanings while others are more neutral. Pragmatic variation in greeting behavior emerges in interaction.
