compare and contrast meditation and prayer
The key difference between prayer and meditation is: prayer is making your requests known to God and opening up to him like you would a best friend, whereas meditation is taking the time to listen to what God has to say to you through reading and digging deeper into the Bible.
Prayer is to speak; meditation is to be spoken to.
Prayer is concerned with talking, conversing, and making requests be known. Meditation is concerned with a stillness, where one serves as a witness of one's own mind in order to listen and observe what is occurring within.
Meditation is a prayerful quest engaging thought, imagination, emotion, and desire the whole person. The goal is to pay attention to our faith by confronting it with the reality of our life. Vocal prayer has a more particular focus of intention: i.e., petition or thanksgiving.
