1.1 Discuss how ICT integration can transform teaching and learning in the context of south Africa
1.2 Explain five challenges that hindered the successful implementation of ICT in Gauteng schools.
1.1 Technology has the ability to enhance relationships between teachers and students. When instructors successfully integrate technology into their subject areas, they become advisers, content experts, and coaches. Teaching and learning can be made more meaningful and enjoyable with the use of technology. Students can also use technological applications to collaborate with their classmates.
Testing has gone online. Online testing is the way of the future, but it comes with a lot of benefits. With the use of technology, it is possible to assess pupils' performance in real time. Teachers can better track and understand students' comprehension of the material by seeing test scores in real time.
Technology keeps kids engaged. This generation's students are referred to as technical learners. They learn best when they are more participatory, and technology allows them to do so. Children often struggle to stay concentrated or interested, and with materials to assist the teacher, they will be able to stay focused and learn more quickly.
With technology, there are no limitations. Students can learn a subject in a variety of ways when they have access to material outside of the book. Teachers can come up with innovative strategies to keep their pupils engaged while teaching. Learning has become more hands-on as a result of technological advancements.
1.2 According to Korte & Hüsing, 2007 obstacles to successful ICT integration include lack of teacher confidence, lack of teacher competence, lack of effective training, resistance to change and negative attitudes, lack of technical support and lack of infrastructure.
