Write a paragraph of 100-120 words in which you indicate how culture is addressed in the short story “Who’s Irish by Gish Jen “
"Who's Irish by Gish Jen" is a story that demonstrates the controversial conflict of culture of a sixty-eight with her daughter and her granddaughter. The grandmother maintains her Chinese culture, and doesn't open to other culture. The grandmother tries to raise her granddaughter using the same values of the Chinese culture and criticizes her often. The grandmother is brought up in a Chinese culture, her daughter grows in a more western setting and marries an Irish. The granddaughter, who is still growing adopts the Western lifestyle, which is totally different from what her grandmother wants her to do. The story shows the different cultures in the society and how people will react to the changing culture. Some will resist it like the grandmother while others will fully adopt the new culture like her granddaughter adopting the Western culture in spite the continuous complains from her grandmother.
