Discuss the neo-marxist interpretation of schooling
Neo-Marxists argue that social institutions such as schools were established to create and sustain social class divisions.
It argues that capitalism molds society's educational institutions, and that without one, the society's economy would be a colossal failure. Without education, society's citizens are unable to find work, and employment is the engine that propels society forward. Education aids in the preservation of the bourgeoisie and proletariat by providing employees who can generate commodities and services that can be used by other members of the community. As a result, employees are identified as powerless and disadvantaged, while employers are identified as owners and influential members of society. As a result, neo-Marxists argue that education is intended to distinguish between the owners and the workers.
