Write an argumentative essay based on the following topics.
1. Is the widespread increased use of technology good for young children—or does it harm their development?
2. Are women and men treated equally in your society?
3. Should there be restrictions or laws on what types of bathrooms trans people can use?
1. Is the widespread increased use of technology suitable for young children or harms their development?
Over the last few decades, technology has profoundly transformed practically every area of our lives, from how we work to how we interact and everything in between. The change in the way children play and interact with one another from past generations is one of the most visible differences. Although technology has many significant aspects for learning, it can also have several detrimental consequences for children's development and quality of life.
One of the most significant differences in today's children's lives is that they do not get nearly as much exercise as they used to. This is because technology, such as laptops, smartphones, and television, encourages them to be sedentary after school instead of going outside and playing with other children. Obesity rates among children have risen dramatically in recent decades. In 2012, the child obesity rate was 18 percent, an 11-point increase over the 1980 rate (Patel, 2018). While many schools and parents have taken steps to address this by encouraging structured physical activity both during and after school, we still have a long way to go in terms of assisting children in participating in more activities.
2. Are women and men treated equally in your society?
Yes. When persons of all genders have equal rights, duties, and opportunities, this is referred to as gender equality. Gender inequality has an impact on everyone, including women, men, trans and gender diverse persons, children, and families. It affects people of all ages and from all walks of life. We urgently require gender equality. Gender equality protects women and girls from abuse. It is necessary for economic growth. Women and men are valued equally in societies that are safer and healthier. Equality between men and women is a fundamental human right. Gender equality benefits everyone in the community; thus, it is assured to both men and women.
3. Should there be restrictions or laws on what types of bathrooms trans people can use?
No. Policies that are transgender-inclusive do not endanger people's lives. We'd know by now if they were, because transgender people have been using public restrooms and locker rooms for decades. Harassment, stalking, violence, or sexual assault are not legalized by policies that allow transgender persons to use the correct restroom that best matches the transgender person's identity. For anyone, wherever, those actions are and will continue to be illegal.
