Explain the political condition, economic condition and social condition of the Philippines during 19th century.
Social/Political Condition
The Filipinos in the 19th century had suffered from the feudalistic and master-slave relationships by the Spaniards. Their social structure is ranked into three groups: Highest class – the people that belong in this class include the Spaniards, peninsulares, and the friars.
Economic conditions
The demand for Philippine sugar and abaca (hemp) grew apace, and the volume of exports to Europe expanded even further after the completion of the Suez Canal in 1869. The growth of commercial agriculture resulted in the appearance of a new class.
